あることかたし、有り難い
お寺の前で休憩していた外国人。声をかけると気さくに答えてくれました。２人はイスラエルからとアメリカから。何か好きな言葉を書いてくれませんかと尋ねると、英語でGrateful＝ありがたい、イスラエル語でシャロム＝平和と、書いてくれました。私は和＝ちがったものがとけ合って1つになる、と書きました。イスラエル語は昔の日本と同じで、右から左へよんでいくんですって。
人は、へだたりを越えていけることを教えてもらいました。2人から「良い一日を」と言葉をもらいました。ありがとう。２人も良い旅を。
Two foreigners were taking a break in front of the temple. I called out to them and they answered kindly. One was from Israel and the other from America. I asked them if they could write a word they liked, and they wrote Grateful in English and Shalom in Israeli, which means peace. I wrote Wa, which means differences melting together and becoming one. Apparently, Israeli is read from right to left, just like in old Japan. They taught me that people can transcend boundaries. They both said, "Have a nice day." Thank you. I hope you both have a good trip.
